A local resident encountered two hunters, with shotguns, entering from The Sunnyside Tract Nature Preserve, into the woods in Ardentown. They were carrying shotguns. (They said they were "tracking deer" and assumed this was "public land." Both men were white. One was described in his 30s and around 6'2". The incident was reported to 911 and police responded to interview the observer of the incident.
It was later learned that DNREC Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Officers are the correct responders to call. The numbers where they can be reached are: 800-523-3336, 302-836-4682, 302-739-9913.
ARDEN SAFETY ADVISES: IF AN ARMED INDIVIDUAL IS OBSERVED IN THE ARDEN WOODS, PLEASE CALL 911. Insist that New Castle Police respond, as a matter of Life Safety.
Then follow up with a DNREC call. IT IS ILLEGAL TO HUNT IN NCC WOODLANDS.
PLEASE POST TO THIS BLOG, IF YOU HAVE FURTHER INFORMATION. IF YOU CARE TO SHARE NAMES OR LICENSE NUMBERS, WE WILL LOG THE INFORMATION, BUT NOT POST THOSE DETAILS.
